Drag and Drop Simplicity

Drag and Drop design allows the user to simply drop in a folder of their favourite multitracks and instantly edit them using the software.

The software was built with simplicity in mind, hiding any unnecessary toggles or controls and only revealing them when needed. This feature is extended to the information window only opening when the user hovers over the ‘I’ icon and closing again afterwards.

These design features allow for a cleaner working interface, ensuring the software doesn't hinder the users experience.

Explore The Mix

Explore the Mix is the name of the overall GyroPan experience. Before this feature is toggled, the user can hear all the tracks being played. Once Explore the Mix has been toggled the user is taken directly to Select a Track.

Select a Track

In Select a Track the user will hear the multitracks panned around their head. Head Related Transfer Functions allow the user to turn their head, hearing the track they are looking at. The user can then lock in on this track to edit it by either toggling the Select a Track toggle, or by remaining still for 5 seconds.

Effects

When the track is selected, it is then immediately panned to the centre (or wherever the track was last panned to). The user can then toggle between effects. Once finished, de-toggling Select a Track allows them to edit another.

Reverb

  • Applies reverb to the track.
  • Uses the Y-axis.
  • Looking up increases the level of reverb in milliseconds and looking down turns the reverb down to 0ms.

Pan

  • Pans the track.
  • Uses the Z-axis.
  • As the user turns there head to the left the track pans to the right, giving the effect it has a spatial position.

Volume

  • Changes the level of the track.
  • Uses the Y-axis.
  • Looking up increases the volume of the track and looking down turns the volume down completely.

E.Q

  • Applies a Low Pass Filter.
  • Uses the Y-axis.
  • Looking up allows more high frequencies into the mix. This effect is exponential.
