Hardware

The hardware for GyroPan consists of a pair of headphones and a box containing the gyroscope. The gyroscope chip is connected to an Arduino. The Arduino then communicates to the computer through USB.

Further adaptations of the GyroPan hardware could see the product move to wireless technology. This would stop the restriction of the wires when turning on the spot and allow for greater freedom when moving away from the computer.

iPhone Remote

As an additional feature GyroPan also has iPhone remote that communicates to the software through a local network and the c74 Max MSP object and iPhone application.

This remote allows the user to fully control all the toggles on the software through the iPhone with feed back when selections have been confirmed using the iPhones vibrate function.

Also the Shake to Stop feature allows the user to play and pause the music by shaking the iPhone. When the music is paused the remotes background turns red.

The remote is extremely useful when wanting to control the software without having to go back and forth to the computer, making it even easier to mix your multitracks.
